What is YOUR definition of success?
This might be a question that feels a bit cliché, right? But stick with me here, because how you answer this can shape your entire life.
Think about it.
If your idea of success is all about climbing that corporate ladder, earning a hefty salary, and owning the latest Tesla, that's cool. But, what happens if those things start costing you more than they're worth?
I mean, not just money-wise, but your health, your relationships, and your peace of mind. That's when you gotta ask yourself: is this really worth it?
The thing is, our society has this cookie-cutter image of success – big house, fancy job, all that jazz. But that one-size-fits-all picture can actually do more harm than good - like trying to fit into a pair of jeans that just aren't your size.
Sure, you can squeeze into them, but are you comfortable? Can you breathe?
In this blog, we're diving into the "anti-hustle" mindset, something Alex Schlinsky and I explored in our podcast.
It's about challenging the norm, stepping back, and asking...
"What does success really mean to me?"
"What if success isn't about the grind, the endless hours, or the material gains?"
"What if it's about finding a balance that lets you enjoy your life, your family, and your passions?"

During my conversation with Alex in our podcast episode, I couldn't help but feel this deep sense of respect for the guy.
Imagine this: for ten whole years, he's on this non-stop grind, working his tail off, chasing what he thought was 'success'. But, it's literally breaking his heart. Yeah, his dedication and hustle actually worsened his heart condition. Crazy, right?
So there he is, at this major crossroads in life, and it hits him – maybe success isn't about how fat your bank account is or how high you climb that corporate ladder. It's a moment of truth that a lot of us never get, or sadly, just ignore.
That's when he decides to flip the script. He sits down and pours all his newfound wisdom into this book, "The Anti-Hustler’s Handbook". It's like his love letter to everyone caught up in the hustle.
He's basically saying, "Hey, let's pump the brakes on this whole money-chasing game. There's more to life, like family, like enjoying your time with your kids, and hey, not forgetting your own mental health."
It's pretty eye-opening because Alex is sharing something raw and real. Now, don't get me wrong, Alex isn't saying we should all just throw in the towel and stop hustling altogether. That's not his message at all. During our chat, he made it clear that his book, "The Anti-Hustler’s Handbook", isn't about abandoning ambition or stopping work.
It's more about a shift in perspective.
He's asking us to take a good, hard look at what we're hustling for.
Is it for the endless cycle of more money, more things?
Or is it for something that genuinely fills our cup – like those irreplaceable moments with family, watching your kids grow, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon doing something you love?
That's the real gold.
He's advocating for a balanced life where yes, work is important, but it's not the be-all and end-all. It's about creating space for what really matters. For Alex, it was those moments with his family, his mental well-being, that truly defined his success.
So, when you pick up "The Anti-Hustler’s Handbook", don't expect a guide to laziness.
Instead, brace yourself for a refreshing take on how to balance the hustle with what makes life genuinely worth living.
It's a nudge to all of us to reassess our priorities and maybe, just maybe, find a happier, more fulfilling path.

Another thing that Alex said in the podcast that really hit home was: “The first step of being a better parent is to give yourself not a pass but grace. It's not about punishing yourself for working too much or not being with your kid every second, but about finding ways to make the time you do have with them really count.”
This got me thinking...HARD.
We live in this world where there's this crazy expectation to be the 'perfect' parent. But striving for that perfection actually sets up an imperfect situation for our kids. Think about it. If we're always this picture of perfection, always getting it right, what does that teach them? It kind of says, "Hey, you need to be perfect too."
And that's a huge no-no.
We're human. We make mistakes. We have bad days. And it's totally okay.
Our kids need to see that. They need to see us fail, struggle, and then pick ourselves back up. It shows them that it's normal to not always get it right.
If we're always this flawless, unflappable superhero in their eyes, we're kind of setting them up for a fall. They'll think they have to meet these impossible standards. And when they inevitably don't, because hey, no one's perfect, it can really knock their confidence.
So, when Alex talks about giving yourself grace as a parent, it's about more than just easing up on yourself. It's about showing your kids that it's okay to be imperfect. That it's okay to have off days and not have all the answers.
By doing that, we're teaching them to be kind to themselves, to understand that perfection isn't the goal – being real, learning, and growing is.
We're talking about a place dedicated to teaching young men and women real, hands-on skilled trades. Imagine a space where practical skills are king and can really shape the future.
If you're anything like me, this new year has got you thinking about hitting the pause button, right? I mean, it's the perfect time to take a step back and really look at where we're putting our energy. And, you know, one thing that Alex really drove home in our podcast was the importance of prioritizing time with our families and children.
Let's face it, we all get caught up in the hustle – chasing success, working those crazy hours, trying to make everything perfect. But at what cost? Sometimes we're so focused on the grind that we miss out on those priceless moments with our loved ones. Those moments that, honestly, we're never going to get back.
So, why not make this year different?
Why not set a goal to really be present with our families?
To actually enjoy those little everyday moments that make life so rich.
Now, let's talk about our flaws as hustlers. It's a bit of a reality check, but here we go:
Always On The Clock: We're like those energizer bunnies, always going, never stopping. But at what cost?
Perfectionism: This one's a killer. Always wanting things just right, and beating ourselves up when they're not.
Neglecting Personal Time: When was the last time we did something just for us? Or spent quality time with our family without distractions?
Health on the Backburner: Skipping meals, missing workouts, sleep... who needs it? Well, we do.
See where I'm going with this? It's time to flip the script. That's where Alex's book, "The ANTI-Hustler's Handbook," comes in. It's not just a book. It's a lifeline for hustlers like us. It's a step-by-step guide for hard-working entrepreneurs who are ready to redefine success. It's about finding fulfillment without sacrificing everything that matters – our health, our family, our sanity.
Alex's book helps us explore infinite choices for fulfillment. And the best part? It teaches us how to do this without losing sight of our ambitions and dreams. It's about finding that sweet spot where work and life aren't at war with each other.
So, if you're ready to start this year differently, to make a change that really counts, grab a copy of "The ANTI-Hustler's Handbook."
